We make dealing with the USCG National Vessel Documentation Center that much easier. Having a vessel is exciting, whether you’re using it to spend time with those closest to you, or if you’re using it in the course of maritime business. When you need documentation, you should have to work too hard to find exactly what you’re looking for. That’s what we’ve always believed in, and why our vessel documentation services take the difficult process and make it easier on our customers.
USCG National Vessel Documentation Center Purpose
One of the main purposes of the center is to deal with vessel documentation. Not only is this one of the oldest functions of the center, but it’s actually one of the oldest functions of the American government. In fact, it goes all the way back to the 11th act of Congress. Not of any specific Congress, but rather of the very first convened Congress here in America. Many of the same purposes that documentation served then it serves today. For example, it provides conclusive evidence of your nationality for international purposes. So, even if you take your vessel outside of American waters, once it’s been documented, it will conclusively show where your vessel is from.
Other Purposes of Documentation
There are still other reasons that vessel owners have to get this documentation (as well as reasons that some vessel owners who don’t need this documentation still choose to get it). For example, vessel owners that have vessels that are more than five net tons and are used in fishing activities on US navigable waters (or in the Exclusive Economic Zone) have to get this documentation, as do many towboats and dredges. However, other vessel owners may choose to get this particular documentation for their vessels even if they don’t have to.
Chosen Documentation
These vessel owners tend to get the documentation because they like how it provides the nationality, but also for vessel financing. If you want to get financing for your vessel, then documentation can make the process a bit easier. Getting a Preferred Ship’s Mortgage has helped many vessel owners to get the financing that they were looking for. This is not a new trend, either. This has been the case since 1920.
How the Maritime Documentation Center Figures In
Our place in all of this is to make getting these documents easier for you. If you look back at the text above, you’ll notice that we mentioned multiple kinds of documentation. You can find all of those (and others) right at our site. In fact, you can find them on the left side of the site, without having to look too hard. Still, we’re always looking for ways to make documentation simpler, so you can find the forms that are used the most right in the center of our site. We also make it possible to renew your documentation for years in advance. For more, you can always give us a call at (800) 535-8570.
