USCG documentation is the process of registering a vessel with the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
Through this process, vessels receive an official Certificate of Documentation, which provides evidence that they meet USCG safety and security standards. The certificate also serves as proof of ownership and allows vessels to be operated legally in US waters.
Vessels must have their documentation renewed every year, and owners may need to submit additional paperwork depending on the type and size of their vessel.
To officially document a vessel, an owner must complete an Application for Documentation form. You can do that through this form here.
Additionally, you can upload any documents you may need through this link.
The laws regarding US vessel documentation can be found here.
