The winter months in the United States can be difficult for boaters. You may want to go out on your vessel as you did in the summer only for it to be too cold to do. Or, maybe you do go out on your vessel but you have to put on so many layers of clothes that it takes too long to do. However, one thing you can do during the winter months is to make sure that all of your USCG documentation is up to snuff. This is the right time of year to do all of that. That way, when the summer months roll around, you’ll be able to get on your vessel with no concerns.
USCG Documentation in the winter
Obviously, you can use our site at any time of year. This blog was written during the winter, a good time to catch up on your vessel’s documentation. One thing you can do during this time of year is to catch up on renewing your Certificate of Documentation. If you’re just going year by year with the Coast Guard, then you may have to wait for them to send you the notice that it’s time to renew. If you go through our site, however, you can renew for up to several years in the future. If you go through the Maritime Documentation Center, you can renew for up to five years in the future. That gives you one less thing to worry about, going forward.
Documentation to Fill Out when you want
Most vessel owners look at boat documentation like a chore. As with cleaning the gutters or shoveling the driveway, documentation is the kind of thing that’s to be done out of obligation rather than joy. It’s very easy to put off doing the documentation. So, to make it easier for our customers, we’ve mobile optimized our size. That means that you can use our site on any mobile device. So, you can use it on your phone, tablet, or anything else. You can be in line for holiday presents, in the waiting room, or even during downtime at a holiday event and fill out your vessel documentation. It’s a great way to bring the warm summer months into your cold winter.
Document Processors Work Year Round
Yes, our document processors get holidays off, but they work during the winter and fall too, in addition to summer. So, when you fill out your documentation and send it to us, they’re here to make sure that your documentation is filled out properly. That way, you don’t have to worry about errors being caught by the Coast Guard who, in turn, make you have to fill out these documents again. Our document processors catch all of the errors, even the smallest ones so that your documents sail through unimpeded. The feeling of getting your documentation sent back to you can be very frustrating, we keep it from happening.
Strong Security All Year Long
The security at our site is truly top notch. In these winter months, we’ve made it even stronger. Indeed, if you have clicked on our site recently, you may have noticed the “SSL Encrypted Documentation Submission Portal” at the top of the page. That means that we made our encryption portal even stronger. Unfortunately, hackers and others who would steal the personal information of our clients don’t take the winter months off, either. They’re always looking for ways to get in and steal your data. We make sure that they don’t. Customers entrust us with their info and we make sure that it’s always protected, all year round.
At our site, you can also find all of the forms that you’ll need. We know that if you’re looking for vessel documentation after a big holiday dinner, or while lazing on the couch, you don’t want to have to search too hard to find the documentation you need. That’s why we put the most used forms right in the center of the page. Simply go to the middle of the page and look for the tabs in blue which have all of the most used forms. That being said, the rest of our forms are easy to find, too. For our complete catalog, just look on the left hand of our site. They’re all listed there, in an easy to find format.
The winter months can be difficult on vessel owners. Many of us have put our vessels away in storage for the winter. In December and January, it can feel like the summer is so far away. However, if you take care of the necessary vessel documentation now, then when the summer comes, you can go out and enjoy it.
